Victor dE Souza Brings to Life a Lost History at NYFW

Visionary designer, Victor dE Souza, presented his fall/winter 24 collection at New York Fashion Week. The collection is a call to celebrate rendezvous history, honoring the connection between the past and the present.

Victor dE  Souza’s collection uses Edwardian and Baroque references and 21st-century style to play an ode to history. His pieces begin as gothic-inspired silhouettes with intricate stitching and then transform into modernized pieces. The show unfolds alike a history lesson. The pieces involved were described as a “masterstroke of design.”

The clothing used a wide range of materials and styles to communicate the change in history- featuring embroidery, decadent fabrics, glimmering gold metal flowers, ruffled suits, and oversized bows. Victor dE Souza aims to tribute “lost histories” as well as the “fantasies that come with reimagining them.”

Victor dE Souza is praised for being a multiracial Argentinian talent. He challenges the established norms of fashion by deconstructing silhouettes and refreshing our consciousness with modern fashion. He repeats to push the boundaries of fashion and creativity- and has not failed with this visionary sophisticated collection. The designer has been embraced by stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, Rhianna, and more. He aims to empower individuals to express themselves through art.

“My devotion to highly structured silhouettes and precision stitching began as a young man in Argentina, rifling through my grandmother’s extravagant closet full of Dior, Schaparelli and Chanel. Due to a flood, we’ve unfortunately lost most of her pieces,” says designer and founder, Victor dE Souza. “Memories of these heirlooms inspired me to infuse history and fantasy into dramatic looks for the women I dress. It’s a resurrection of lost family treasures with pieces of myself interwoven, each piece a thread of my family tree.”

The collection is now available for pre-order.
