Lauryn Bosstick on Building Influence Through Beauty, Ritual, and Longevity

Lauryn Bosstick has spent more than a decade shaping how women approach beauty, wellness, and daily ritual. As the founder of The Skinny Confidential and co-host of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show, she has built a platform rooted in discernment, consistency, and real-life application. In BELLA’s Women of Influence issue, Lauryn reflects on the evolution of her brand, the power of small habits, and why influence is built through trust, not trends.

You launched The Skinny Confidential in 2011 before influencer culture had a name. Did you realize you were building a brand?

The Skinny Confidential began as a blog because I genuinely loved collecting the best tips, rituals, and routines and wanted them living in one place for myself and for women who cared about what truly works. It was about discernment and curation and sharing information you save and come back to.

From the beginning, I focused on substance and results rather than personality. That naturally attracted a thoughtful, selective woman who valued quality over noise. Many of those women are still part of our community today and became the foundation for everything we’ve built.

Even early on, I knew it was bigger than a blog. I had a clear vision for something that could grow beyond one platform and evolve alongside my life. Today, The Skinny Confidential is a clean beauty brand designed to elevate everyday routines in a way that feels intentional, efficient, and results driven.

You entered podcasting early, when the space was dominated by male hosts and hard news. What gave you the confidence to create a lifestyle-driven show?

The show came together organically. Michael and I were talking the way we always do when the idea to record our conversations came up. Podcasting felt open and expansive, and we committed to refining as we went.

Lifestyle conversations for women had real room to grow, and I saw that as an invitation. I’ve always believed that a clear point of view paired with strong taste creates its own gravity. That belief has guided every decision since.

With hundreds of millions of downloads and major growth recently, what are women craving most from beauty and wellness conversations?

Women want conversations that feel real and immediately useful. They’re drawn to momentum, not perfection, and to insights that fit into real life.

Stories of reinvention and small shifts that create clarity resonate deeply. Ultimately, it’s about giving women tools that help them feel more grounded, focused, and in control of their lives.

You’ve interviewed many influential women. What habits or mindsets stand out most?

What stands out is autonomy. Women who make decisions on their own terms and manage their time and energy with intention.

I’m drawn to women who understand that different seasons of life require different priorities. Long-form conversation matters because it gives context to how women think, evolve, and build habits over time.

When you launched The Skinny Confidential beauty line, you focused on daily rituals. What does wellness through beauty mean to you?

Wellness through beauty lives in everyday rituals. It’s about choosing tools that make what you already do feel intentional rather than adding more steps.

The Ice Roller came from my experience after double jaw surgery, when icing became essential for recovery. That experience shaped how I create products that integrate seamlessly into real life. The reimagined Ice Roller reflects growth and refinement, but it remains my favorite because it works. The results are immediate, and it’s an essential part of my routine.

Why do you believe small, consistent habits are more powerful than big overhauls?

Small habits are sustainable. When layered intentionally, their impact compounds over time. Skin health and overall wellbeing are built through consistency and care, not extremes.

Our goal is to make wellness approachable, so it becomes part of how you live rather than something you start and stop.

How do you define influence today beyond followers or revenue?

Real influence is built on trust. It shows up when someone changes a habit or makes a clearer decision because of something you shared.

In beauty and wellness, influence means creating things that genuinely improve daily life. That trust, built over time, is what gives a brand longevity.
