Tucked away in the heart of Riverside Park and perched just above the Hudson River, a new summertime gem is ready to take the season by storm: Ellington in the Park.
Replacing the beloved Hudson Beach Cafe, this reimagined escape brings elevated chill to the Upper West Side—blending the breezy charm of a beach bar with the eclectic energy of a New York night out. Open April through November, from 11AM to 11PM daily (weather permitting), Ellington in the Park is more than just a restaurant—it’s a destination.
Created by Chef John Loughran of Ellington on Broadway and Banc Cafe, Ellington in the Park is where fresh food meets fresh air. From elevated pub fare to ice-cold cocktails, it's the perfect spot to unwind, celebrate, or just vibe as the sun dips behind the river. Live music, big-screen TVs, and an upbeat yet easygoing crowd turn golden hour into something truly unforgettable.
The space itself is just as cool as the crowd. The upper-level bar, ingeniously crafted from a repurposed shipping container, offers panoramic views of the Hudson, while the lower-level lounge area is nestled right alongside fields buzzing with beach volleyball, soccer, and softball—ideal for post-game drinks or laid-back afternoons with friends.
Whether you’re planning your next party or just looking for your new go-to spot, Ellington in the Park is NYC’s hidden oasis for those who prefer their summers with a side of soul. And while you're here, take time to wander Riverside Park, lovingly cared for by the Riverside Park Conservancy, which stretches from 59th to 181st Streets and offers some of the city’s most serene green space.
