Elevated Italian in the Heart of Fort Lauderdale: An Evening at Casa D’Angelo
It’s not every evening that a dinner experience transports you—geographically, emotionally, and gastronomically—but stepping into Casa D’Angelo’s flagship location in Fort Lauderdale does just that. Just north of Las Olas, this local institution blends the charm and warmth of Italy with the polished refinement of a New York fine-dining destination. It is, in every sense of the word, exquisite.
Upon entering, the ambiance immediately sets the tone—intimate, beautiful, and thoughtfully refined. The lighting is warm, the table settings impeccable, and the glass-enclosed wine room a statement piece that quietly promises the extraordinary. The energy in the room is lively yet elegant—welcoming without losing its sense of sophistication.
Our server was a standout—gracious, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the menu. With an ease that only comes from experience, he guided us through the evening’s offerings, describing each dish with care and making spot-on recommendations. It’s rare to find service this seamless, where every course feels considered and curated just for you. The experience was elevated even further by a carefully crafted cocktail menu that offered both inventive and classic selections, and the in-house sommelier, whose expert wine pairings brought out the best in every dish, made each sip feel like an extension of the story unfolding at the table.
The Food: Spectacular!
We began with the Burrata, accompanied by 24-month aged Parma prosciutto, beefsteak tomatoes, roasted peppers, and peppery arugula. It was already stunning—and then came the fresh truffle, shaved tableside with reverence. It was indulgent, rich, and perfectly balanced.
Next came the Bucatini Cacio & Pepe all’Astice, a house-made bucatini nestled in a creamy ricotta cacio e pepe sauce, topped with generous 10oz Maine lobster medallions. This dish is as decadent as it sounds—earthy, oceanic, comforting, and utterly refined.
From the heartier side of the menu, the Paccheri Norcina—large rigatoni tossed with Italian sausage, porcini and wild mushrooms in a luxurious black truffle crema—was a standout for its depth and bold, rustic flavors. Equally memorable was the Costoletta di Vitello, a 16oz grilled veal chop served with seasonal vegetables and finished with a wild mushroom Marsala sauce—classic, rich, and flawlessly executed.
Casa D’Angelo’s daily specials menu is also not to be missed. It reflects the restaurant’s commitment to seasonality, freshness, and creativity—each dish is a story in and of itself, crafted with passion by a culinary team that clearly honors its Italian roots while embracing modern sophistication.
Other must-try favorites include the all-time beloved Mamma Fusilli and the perfectly prepared Polpo, which we will definitely be back for.
Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, entertaining guests, or simply treating yourself to a night of culinary excellence, Casa D’Angelo delivers on every front. It’s no surprise that Chef Angelo Elia, originally from Salerno, Italy, has built such a lasting legacy in South Florida. After 25 years, the experience here still feels fresh, genuine, and driven by a love for exceptional food and hospitality.
Casa D’Angelo isn’t just a dinner—it’s an experience. One that reminds you why the classics never go out of style.
