AYAH Brings the Flavors of Morocco to SoHo
New York City’s dining scene has a captivating new addition this fall with the debut of Ayah, an authentic Moroccan restaurant from the creative minds at 3rd Space Hospitality — the team behind celebrated hotspots like Maison Close. Officially opening its doors on September 10th, 2025, Ayah has already begun welcoming guests to SoHo’s newest vibe dining destination, offering an immersive experience that transports diners straight to Morocco through flavor, design, and spirit.
A Culinary Collaboration
At the helm is Executive Chef Geoffrey Lechantoux, whose mastery of French cuisine has long been admired in NYC. To fully honor Morocco’s culinary traditions, he trained under Chef Meryem Cherkaoui — a graduate of the Institute Paul Bocuse, global ambassador for Moroccan gastronomy, and chef-owner of the acclaimed La Maison du Gourmet. Chef Geoffrey is joined by Chef Aïcha Sbaih, a French-born Moroccan chef who grew up steeped in the traditions of Moroccan cuisine. Together, they deliver a menu that balances heritage and innovation.
Menu Highlights
Chhiwates – a vibrant array of Moroccan small plates bursting with color and spice.
Ayah Pastilla – the iconic pastry filled with spiced chicken, almonds, and cinnamon.
Tajines & Couscous – soulful stews paired with semolina grains, vegetables, and fragrant broth.
Showstopping Tableside Service – whole fish and lamb racks, carved and served before guests.
Elevated Sips
The bar program, crafted by Adrien Lefort, one of NYC’s top 10 mixologists, brings playful artistry to the table. Standouts include:
The Dellah – a refreshing blend of citron vodka, jasmine tea, watermelon, mint, lime, and champagne.
The Climbing Goat – a daring mix of mezcal, pistachio liqueur, goat cheese, honey, and rose, harmonizing smoky, creamy, and sweet notes.
A Space that Tells a Story
Designed with DMDesigns, Ayah is as much an artistic experience as it is a culinary one. Handcrafted elements imported directly from Morocco — from carved tables and windows to lush fabrics and golden accents — define the space. Three dining rooms, a central bar, and banquet tables create a setting that shifts seamlessly from intimate gatherings to lively soirées. Every detail, from hand-painted walls to perforated panels and murals, immerses guests in Moroccan heritage while embracing SoHo’s cosmopolitan edge.
A Destination for Every Occasion
With its blend of authenticity, artistry, and modern flair, Ayah promises to be more than a restaurant — it’s an experience. Whether it’s a private celebration, a group dinner, or a spirited night out, Ayah captures the warmth, richness, and vibrancy of Moroccan culture in the heart of New York City.
