Cotrini Skincare’s Salmon DNA Breakthrough: From Pandemic Discovery to Clinical Game-Changer

Written by Sari Cohen

In a beauty industry often driven by fleeting trends and filter-perfect promises, Cotrini Skincare is charting a different course—one powered by science, sincerity, and a breakthrough ingredient that’s anything but ordinary: salmon DNA.

What started as a personal transformation during the pandemic quickly evolved into a global skincare movement. Camilo Triana, founder of Cotrini, was already a successful entrepreneur with an oral care brand, but it was a facial during lockdown that rerouted his future.

“I actually ended up getting that salmon sperm facial done on me,” Triana says. “It was just remarkable because it completely changed my skin.”

That one treatment launched a two-year deep dive into formulation labs across South Korea, a country globally revered for its advanced skincare science. There, Triana learned how salmon DNA—specifically extracted from salmon sperm—had long been used in injectables to treat wounds, deliver hydration, and supercharge collagen production.

“They found that injecting it in patients with bed sores healed tissue rapidly,” Triana explains. “But they also saw that it was exploding with collagen and hydration.”

Cotrini’s goal was clear: take that injectable innovation and make it accessible through topical skincare backed by clinical results. The result? The Ultra Hydrating Night Cream, the brand’s hero product.

“I wanted to take these innovations… and introduce them into skincare topically, and then do clinical studies to prove that they are really effective.”

And the results speak for themselves. “We got 65% improved hydration after 48 hours and 82% after day four,” Triana reports. “Some people notice results overnight, depending on their skin type.”

Real people, real transformations—Cotrini’s community is filled with stories of healing. One woman wrote to say that after months of inflammation and antibiotics, her skin dramatically improved in just three days. Cotrini has calmed rosacea, acne, and perioral dermatitis—without harsh actives or prescriptions.

The buzz quickly spread to Hollywood. Janet Caperna, known for her role on The Valley, became a Cotrini brand ambassador after using the cream to help a dog bite on her lip heal, without a scar.

“They told her, ‘You’re going to have a scar,’” Triana recalls. She started using our product, and it was literally making her scar disappear.”

Cotrini’s appeal is organic—and powerful. Stars like Scheana Shay of Vanderpump Rules were introduced to the product by Janet and became fans themselves. “Scheana reached out to us because she loved the eye patches,” says Triana. Now, both stars are featured in Cotrini’s billboard campaign on Sunset Boulevard, using real products with real results.

The brand’s innovation doesn’t stop at night cream. Cotrini has also developed micro-dart eye patches—infused with salmon DNA and healing botanicals. These dissolving patches work overnight, loved by clients like Scheana for treating smile lines and under-eye puffiness.

But salmon DNA isn’t the only star of Cotrini’s formulations. The brand incorporates traditional Chinese medicine-inspired botanicals, powerful anti-inflammatories that help rebuild and protect the skin barrier.

“What sets us apart is that we’re not just here to make you look good. We’re here to help you take care of what you have,” Triana shares. “Our goal is to help you cherish and heal your skin.”

With ongoing clinical studies, Cotrini is also preparing for a future that extends beyond beauty.

“We’re pioneering clinical studies,” Triana explains. “We don’t want to be a one-trick pony. Some of these technologies that are not available here are incredible… they just need a vessel.”

The brand’s next releases, launching this September, include a day cream designed for both face and neck and new glabella patches (aka “the 11s”) for expression lines.

“I’m thrilled about the launch of our new day cream,” says Triana. “We’re also introducing our latest micro-dart patches specifically for the 11’s—those stubborn frown lines between the brows.”

From healing hospital patients to healing Hollywood complexions, Cotrini Skincare is leading the charge in science-backed wellness. “We are the leaders in this new trend of salmon DNA,” says Triana. “But more importantly, we’re helping people heal. That’s what keeps us going.”

From Seoul labs to Sunset billboards, Cotrini is proving that the future of skincare isn’t just glowing—it’s deeply personal.
