Palace Anchors Miami Beach Pride 2026 as a Cultural and Civic Epicenter on Ocean Drive

As Miami Beach Pride returns this April, Palace Bar once again stands at the center of it all, anchoring one of the most visible, high-energy, and culturally significant Pride celebrations in the country. At the same time, the iconic Ocean Drive destination continues to evolve as a powerful symbol of LGBTQ+ visibility and resilience in Florida.

Now approaching four decades on Ocean Drive, Palace is more than a cornerstone of Miami Beach’s LGBTQ+ community. It is a living institution, one that continues to shape the narrative of Pride at a moment when that visibility carries deeper meaning.

This year’s celebration unfolds against a backdrop of heightened political tension surrounding LGBTQ+ rights across the state. In response, Miami Beach is making a clear and lasting statement. Directly across from Palace in Lummus Park, the City of Miami Beach will unveil the restored LGBTQIA+ rainbow crosswalk on Friday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m., transforming what was once removed into a permanent and highly visible symbol of progress, preservation, and unity.

Reassembled using 3,606 salvaged pavers from the original 2009 installation, the crosswalk stands as a reaffirmation of the city’s commitment to honoring LGBTQ+ history while ensuring its legacy remains embedded within the fabric of Miami Beach. The addition of a commemorative plaque, unanimously approved by the Mayor and City Commission with support from the Miami Beach LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee, further reinforces that commitment to inclusivity and representation.

Positioned directly across from this installation, Palace operates as both witness and amplifier of the moment, creating a powerful intersection where celebration meets civic significance. Pride here is not only performed, it is lived.

Owned by Miami Beach Pride co-founder Tom Donall, the venue has long served as a central gathering place for the community, often described as a modern-day “Birdcage” of South Beach where drag, dining, performance, and cultural expression converge in one of the most recognizable open-air settings in the world.

During Pride Week, from April 8 through April 12, Palace transforms into one of the city’s most dynamic destinations. Programming reflects both the scale and spirit of the celebration, with standout moments including the Miami Beach Pride Pageant, the Haus of Gucci Ball, and a full weekend of brunches, rooftop activations, and performances.

World-class DJs including Oscar Velasquez and Jrny set the tone throughout the weekend, culminating in a closing celebration on Sunday featuring DJ Dani Brasil alongside special appearances from RuPaul’s Drag Race stars including Jimbo and Trinity the Tuck.

Together, these moments position Palace as more than a venue. It is one of the most visible and influential stages for LGBTQ+ culture during Pride, where identity, performance, and community are expressed openly from day to night. The performers themselves, Palace’s renowned roster of drag talent, embody that visibility, creating an environment that feels celebratory, inclusive, and unmistakably authentic.

At a time when LGBTQ+ rights continue to be debated and challenged across the country, Miami Beach Pride 2026 offers a different narrative, one rooted in presence, perseverance, and unapologetic joy. The restoration of the rainbow crosswalk, paired with the continued cultural leadership of institutions like Palace, reflects a broader commitment from the city and its community to not only protect its history, but to elevate it.

For nearly 38 years, Palace has continuously reinvented itself while remaining true to its core purpose. This April, it stands not only as a cornerstone of Miami Beach Pride, but as a symbol of what Pride represents at its most powerful: visibility, unity, and the enduring strength of community.
