Miami Fashion Week Launches Inaugural Virtual Fashion Awards Gala

Miami Fashion Week ushered in a new era of fashion innovation with the successful debut of its inaugural Virtual Fashion Awards Gala, held at Queen Miami Beach and hosted by Emmy Award winning journalist Lisa Petrillo. Bringing together designers, industry leaders, creatives, and innovators from around the world, the event celebrated the intersection of fashion, technology, and storytelling in a truly immersive format.

Widely regarded as one of the first large scale fashion initiatives in Miami dedicated entirely to AI powered runway presentations and digital fashion experiences, the evening blended traditional craftsmanship with emerging technologies. Guests experienced a combination of live model showcases and AI generated virtual runway presentations, offering a glimpse into the future of fashion.

Designers including Ana+Maria, Beatriz de la Cámara, Brooke Wilder, Danfive by Daniela Ospina, Jacqueline Then, Jhoan Sebastian Grey, René by RR, Shantall Lacayo, Vero Diaz, Yas Gonzalez, Yenny Bastida, and others presented AI powered collections set within immersive digital environments that expanded the possibilities of the traditional runway experience.

The evening's top honor, Best Virtual Fashion Show, was awarded to Jhoan Sebastian Grey, while Yas Gonzalez received Best Brand Narrative and Vero Diaz was recognized for Best Creative Direction. As part of the awards, winners received opportunities for future runway presentations, editorial exposure, brand amplification, and participation in upcoming Miami Fashion Week initiatives.

A special tribute honored fashion icon Barbara Hulanicki for her pioneering contributions to fashion accessibility and retail innovation, while Miami based designer René Ruiz was recognized for his longstanding impact on Miami's fashion landscape. Academy Award winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. was also among the evening's notable attendees.

Further highlighting the event's commitment to innovation, Miami Fashion Week partnered with SCIRCLE to introduce AI powered fragrance experiences, allowing participating designers to translate the inspiration behind their collections into bespoke scents. The evening concluded with a live performance by Gabriel Coronel, capping off a celebration that successfully merged fashion, technology, and creativity on a global stage.

As Miami Fashion Week continues to evolve, the Virtual Fashion Awards Gala signals an exciting new chapter for the industry, one where digital innovation and artistic expression work hand in hand to redefine the future of fashion.
