Miami Fashion Institute Marks a Decade Of Excellence with a Visionary Graduate Showcase
Celebrating the 10th anniversary, Miami Fashion Institute held their annual graduate fashion show spotlighting the industry innovation, rising designers, and the future of fashion on the runway.

The future of fashion took the center stage at Miami’s Freedom Tower on June 4th the Miami Dade College’s Miami Fashion Institute (MFI) celebrated their 10th anniversary with the 2026 Annual Graduate Fashion Show. In partnership with Miami Fashion Week, the evening brought designers, educators, industry leaders, and supporters together to honor both a decade of cultivating talent and the next generation of designers.
Set against the iconic backdrop of Miami’s most recognizable landmarks, the graduating students showed of their collections that had a reflection of their months of development and personal storytelling. From innovative silhouettes to precise detailing, the runway gave a glimpse into the different perspectives that are shaping fashion’s future.

“As we Celebrated 10 Years of the Miami Fashion Institute, the collections reflected a decade of growth, creativity, and innovation,” said Oscar Lopez, Chair of the Miami Fashion Institute. “Our Students demonstrated not only technical excellence but also bold, forward-thinking design perspectives.”
A meaningful layer was added to the event as the legendary Fashion illustrator Ruben Toledo, who served as a guest of honor and addressed the graduating class. Through his enduring influence on fashion culture, Toldeo took the time to engage with students throughout the week prior to addressing the graduates during the event.
The collections featured were selected by a distinguished panel of professionals in the industry, including Miami Fashion Week Exectutive Managing Director Lourdes Fernandez-Velaso, Maria Buccellati fashion executive of Faith Connexion, Designer Naeem Khan, and Wardrobe Stylist and costume designer Danny Santiago. Collectively, the jurors identified a group of deisgners whose work combined both creativeness and technical excellence.
The evening began with a video honoring MFI’s first decade highlighting the evolution of the school, industry partnerships, and the whole community that helped in establishing the institute as one of South Florida’s most respected fashion program. The Celebration continued with awards that recognized the outstanding students achievements across categories ranging from retail innovation and sustainability to editorial excellence and collaboration.
Some of the award recipients included Teresa Chumpitaz, who was given The Ruben and Isabel Toledo Award; Amanda Rodriguez, winner of The Retail Concept Award presented by Saks Fifth Avenue; Laura Prada, honored with The Editorial Award presented by Brickell Magazine; Mauro Blanc, winner of The Collaboration Award presented by Fath Connexion; Maryna Gorbachova, recognized with the Sustainability Award Presented by Upcycle Project.
The most memorable moment of the night was during the finale, when MFI unveiled a special capsule collection that commemorated the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. Featuring the collections ten innovative looks created by CLO 3D, cutting-edge digital fashion software that allowed designers to simulate garments virtually before production.
This presentation demonstrated how today’s emerging designers are using technology as an essential creative tool with their designs. The Recent collaboration between MFI students and the brand Adidas, which resulted in student-designed uniforms selected for Miami Dade College, truly served as inspiration for the anniversary capsule, while also highlighting the professional opportunties to students beyond the classroom.

As the final models exited the runway an applause filled the Freedom Tower, the exit felt less like a conclusion and more like a beginning. The show marked the achievement of years of hardworking and creativity for the graduating designers. For the Miami Fashion Institute, it was a celebration of the ten years of impact and a reminder that the next generation of fashion talent is already making their presence known.
