Fashion Superhero, Patrick Cupid, Swoops In to Champion Local Leading Ladies With His Fabulous Designs

Exploring how fashion intersects with philanthropy, BELLA strives to highlight designers who also give back to the community through various initiatives. Showcasing the transformative power of style in making a positive impact beyond the runway, we celebrate the creativity, innovation, and generosity of those shaping the fashion landscape with purpose and style. One such designer is Patrick Cupid, an American contemporary fashion designer who not only creates riveting designs but uses biodegradable and recyclable materials.

As a solo entrepreneur, Patrick Cupid has built his brand from the ground up. His values in ethical sourcing transpire into his work by utilizing domestic production and local sourcing of fabrics to endorse environmental health and support small businesses.

Given his values in supporting local communities, Patrick Cupid celebrates a local “Woman of Influence,” Leah Abraham Settepani. Settepani is a co-owner, with her husband, of Settepani Restaurant in Harlem, New York. She is a devoted wife, mother, and entrepreneur, as well as an Ethiopian – Eritrean immigrant, representing the American dream.

Settepani gives back unconditionally, and she is involved in several philanthropic causes making impactful strides within her community. Her commitment to her community has earned her attention from many prestigious publications, including The New York Times. The philanthropist’s involvement in the Clinton 500 Foundation, her long-standing board membership with the Harlem 125th Street Business Improvement Committee, and her support of the MORE Orphanage all highlight her dedication to charitable organizations.

When asked why Cupid chose Settepani, the designer shares, “My brand celebrates the individual, evoking that spark within self-awareness. When I think of the quintessential Patrick Cupid woman, I realize she is all around me in many different forms. I selected Leah Abraham for a fashion styling because she gives back unconditionally to her family and to her charitable causes. When you first meet Leah, you experience a warmth and an innate elegance, and it is an honor to makeover in my ‘Diurnal’ spring summer ‘24 collection.”
