Designing Her Own Narrative: Jessica Santander

Jessica Santander’s story is one of heritage, resilience, and self-expression. Raised between Brazilian and Colombian cultures, she grew up surrounded by the passion, color, and storytelling that define Latin life. From a young age, she understood the power of accessories not simply as adornment, but as a language. Jewelry became a way to express identity, emotion, and possibility.

What began as a creative outlet alongside a full-time career in marketing evolved into a deeply personal brand rooted in empowerment and reinvention. Inspired by the lessons her parents instilled in her as a child and shaped by moments of starting over, Jessica built her jewelry line as a reminder that no chapter is final and that the courage to begin again can be transformative.

Through her designs, Jessica invites women to tell their own stories boldly and beautifully. Her work is a celebration of self-belief, cultural pride, and the idea that the most powerful influence we can have is the one we hold over our own lives.

When did jewelry first become meaningful to you as a way to communicate identity and emotion?

Jewelry became meaningful to me long before I realized it consciously. Growing up, I always recall my mom putting on her accessories before anytime she left the door and I was mesmerized by the dressing up moment; the same can be said whenever we visited my Grandparents in New York with my grandma always dressing up with her dainty gold and pearl necklaces. Over time, I began to understand that what you wear can hold emotion and intention. Jewelry became a way for me to tell my story without words—to honor who I was becoming and how I wanted to feel stepping into the world.

How has your Brazilian and Colombian heritage influenced your creative vision and approach to business?

There was always emotion behind everything—how my family dressed, how they celebrated, how they showed love. That deeply shaped my creative vision and honestly my personal character and ambitions. I design with heart first, always asking how a piece will make someone feel and what story can we all embark on from this very moment. From a business perspective, it’s influenced how community driven I am. Relationships, authenticity, and leading with love are central to how I build my brand. For me, business isn’t transactional—it’s deeply personal and in the best of ways because such emotion and passion just mean that this journey and our creations are so important to me.

What ultimately gave you the confidence to take that leap, especially during a time when starting over felt daunting?

At first, it wasn’t confidence—it was faith alongside imagination with what can be if I took a leap of faith. I knew I've always held a deep passion for doing something extraordinary with my life and something meaningful to offer, even if I didn’t have all the answers yet. Working in marketing taught me how powerful storytelling and connection can be, but I felt a growing pull to create something that was truly mine. Eventually, staying comfortable was draining my time, focus, and energy. I realized that I didn’t need certainty—I needed courage and consistency.

How did those challenges reshape your definition of success and lead you toward entrepreneurship?

My rock-bottom moments were essentially a hidden light disguised as a redirection for me on my quest to self-discovery. I learned that success isn’t about titles or timelines—it’s about waking up feeling connected to who you are and what you’re building. Those moments pushed me toward entrepreneurship because I wanted to create a life and a business that honored my values, my creativity, and my growth—a daily adventure that aligned with my purpose in honoring the American Dream that was first started when my grandparents moved from Colombia to New York.

Your philosophy that “the sky is not the limit; it’s just the beginning” is central to your brand. What does that belief look like in practice in your life today?

I fell in love with this phrase after reading a book by Spiritual entrepreneur, Jessica Zweig, and knew I needed to apply this concept to my brand. This means allowing myself to dream boldly and saying yes to opportunities that feel expansive, even when they feel intimidating. Every day, I remind myself that the daily "little" steps I'm taking on today can absolutely lead to life changing new open doors soon.

What do you hope a woman feels when she puts on one of your pieces and steps into the next chapter of her story?

Loved. I hope she feels herself thriving in a whole new light. Confident. Grounded in who she is and excited about who she’s becoming. I want each piece to feel like a quiet reminder of her strength and softness—something she reaches for when she needs a little extra sparkle, courage, or self-love as she steps into her next chapter.

As a woman of influence, how do you hope your journey and your brand encourage other women to trust themselves and show up boldly for their own lives?

I hope my journey shows women that it’s okay to start before you feel ready no matter the circumstance. That vulnerability can coexist with strength. If my story encourages even one woman to trust her intuition, honor her dreams, and show up boldly—exactly as she is—then I know I’m doing something meaningful. My brand is an extension of that belief: that when women lead from the heart and imagination, incredible things unfold.
