Cynthia, you've had an incredibly diverse career that spans modeling, entrepreneurship, and reality television. What motivated you to pursue such a wide array of interests, and how have those experiences shaped where you are today?

My motivation to pursue a diverse career comes from a desire for self-expression, financial independence, and exploration. All of my interests—modeling, entrepreneurship, reality TV, and acting—offer unique opportunities to grow and connect with different audiences. Modeling allowed me to embrace creativity and beauty; entrepreneurship enabled me to build something of my own and achieve financial independence; reality TV provided a platform to share my authentic self and inspire others.

Acting challenges me to step outside of my comfort zone to transform into other characters and play a role in storytelling. These experiences have shaped my resilience, adaptability, confidence, and understanding of brand-building, ultimately leading me to a fulfilling life where I can empower others while pursuing my passions, goals, and dreams.

As a successful entrepreneur with ventures like The Bailey Wine Cellar, The Bailey Room, CYNTHIA BAILEY EYEWEAR, and CB VIOR, what do you think has been the key to successfully translating your personal brand into thriving businesses?

I have been able to translate my personal brand as a model, reality star, entrepreneur, and actress into thriving businesses by leveraging my visibility and authenticity. I utilize social media to engage with my audience and showcase my lifestyle, fashion, and businesses. By diversifying my brand through products like CYNTHIA BAILEY EYEWEAR, The Bailey Wine Cellar, The Bailey Room, CB VIOR, and beauty and fashion collaborations, I can capitalize on my image and influence. Also, my experience on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" helps me connect with my fans on a personal level, creating loyalty and trust that translates into successful business opportunities. This approach allows me to build a strong, recognizable brand that resonates with my audience.

“By focusing on my passions and interests outside the spotlight, I have cultivated a sense of normalcy that helps keep me grounded.”

You've often been in the public eye, sharing both personal and professional aspects of your life. How do you maintain a balance between your public persona and your private life, and what advice would you give to other women navigating similar paths?

Although it is a struggle, I have managed to balance my public persona and private life by setting clear boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and being selective about what I share publicly. I can’t stress enough the importance of keeping certain aspects of my life private, especially personal relationships and family matters. By focusing on my passions and interests outside the spotlight, I have cultivated a sense of normalcy that helps keeps me grounded.

As for other women navigating similar paths, I recommend that you do the same.

With your influential presence on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," how do you view the impact of reality television on audiences and the potential it has for shaping conversations around culture and society?

As a consistent peach holder on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" for over a decade, I have always tried to use the platform to promote love, friendship, authenticity, women empowerment, entertainment, and positive representation of women. I believe reality television has a dual impact: while it can perpetuate stereotypes, it also provides a platform for important cultural conversations.

“My legacy will be one of empowerment, showcasing that success comes from hard work and self-belief, and fostering a supportive community where women uplift each other to achieve their dreams.” -Cynthia

By sharing my experiences, I aim to challenge societal norms and inspire viewers to embrace their true selves.

As a figure many women look up to, how do you envision your role in empowering the next generation of female leaders and entrepreneurs, and what legacy do you hope to leave?

“Empowered women empower women.” As a mother, model, reality star, entrepreneur, and actress, I envision my role in empowering the next generation of female leaders by being a visible example of resilience, inspiration, creativity, and authenticity. I want to inspire young women to embrace their unique voices, take risks, and pursue their passions unapologetically. My legacy will be one of empowerment, showcasing that success comes from hard work and self-belief, and fostering a supportive community where women uplift each other to achieve their dreams.

It was incredible spending the day with you, and I wonder, what was your favorite look from the shoot?

I really love the long pink gown. I thought it was so feminine and sexy. And I loved the green dress. The way it glistened in the sun was so beautiful.

Describe from your point of view, the perfect summer in Jersey?

Renting a shore house in Lavalette or Ortley and enjoying the beach during the day and grilling or going out to dinner at night, while spending time with my loved ones.

As mentioned during the shoot, you love summer fashion and beauty. Tell our readers your go-to “Jersey Girl” summer look.

My favorite look would be a bikini at the beach and a cute two-piece set or a cute summer dress – fitted or flowy. For beauty products, I love the IT Cosmetics tinted moisturizer with SPF.

Jumpsuit: Mrs Momma Bear Workwear, Earrings: Alexis Bittar, Shoes: Dolce & Gabbana

Switching gears a bit, you truly light up with love when mentioning Louie, and this summer marks two years of marriage. How is this whole new chapter with him?

Exciting, fresh, fun, and full of adventure.

Now having a combined family, Louie with his two boys and you and your girls, how do they feel having step-siblings? Is it a girl vs. boy household?

It’s a huge, blended family! Everyone plays their part and it’s just easy and works. I’m very grateful. And my daughters and Louie’s sons really love having each other in their lives. We truly are the Brady Bunch. And let’s not forget our four dogs!

We’ve seen your girls blossom in front of our eyes into beautiful young adults. Do you consider yourself a stern parent or do you take more of a best friend approach?

I take more of a best friend approach for sure. When I must, of course I can be strict, but I want them to be able to talk to me about anything.

Behind what people see play out on TV, let’s not forget to mention the successful businesswoman you are! With multiple New York Times best-sellers, appearances throughout different shows, and various products, what venture brings you the most joy?

My cookbooks because it feels like I have a piece of my mom with me.

And “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” because it feels like I have home movies of my kids growing up and my parents, since they are no longer with us. Also, I love having my podcast, Turning the Tables with Teresa Giudice, because viewers really get to me know me on a more personal level.

Has there been an area of business you’d like to tap into, that you haven’t already?

I am very interested in the idea of partnering within the fashion and beauty industries. I have a degree in fashion marketing, and it’s always been a huge passion of mine.

If the cameras were to stop, and you could fully live away from millions of viewers’ screens, without people’s judgment or comments, would you be happy?

This is my job, and I love that it’s been a part of my life for so long. No one wants to be judged, but I respect that everyone has their own opinion.

Teresa, thank you so much for your time. I would like to let our readers know that it was such a pleasure working with you the day of your shoot. If you could finish with one thing, you’d like people to know about you, what would it be?

I just want people to know that I’m fun-loving, full of life and laughter, and I truly just go with the flow!

Stepping into the world of beauty with Laura Geller is like reuniting with an old friend—one whose inspiring journey in the beauty industry is truly admirable and relatable to women of all backgrounds. At BELLA, we have been proud supporters of the #GellerGals for years, but it's not until you meet Laura in person that you truly understand her authenticity, warmth, and infectious energy.

We are delighted to feature Laura Geller on the cover of our 2024 Beauty Issue. She generously shares her tips for achieving the effortless radiance that she is renowned for. We also dive into the innovative techniques and trends that have solidified Laura Geller as a household name in the beauty industry.

Read on as we celebrate Laura's dedication to empowering women and instilling confidence in their own skin at every stage of life. We are proud to pay homage to Laura Geller's remarkable journey and unwavering commitment to helping women feel beautiful inside and out.

A big part of your brand is connecting women and bringing like-minded business owners, influencers, entrepreneurs, and beauty lovers of a certain age together, through curated events. Why is connecting your audience to each other so important to you?

My generation grew up networking in person and while I love how big social media has made my world, and the purpose it serves in connecting people (especially what it has done for my mid-life Geller Gals who have created a wonderful community digitally) there is no substitute for the deeper connections we can make when we get together in person. I’m so proud that we travel to Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, NYC, the Hamptons, and Chicago for our events and I get to meet and connect with women throughout the whole country.

When you started out in the beauty industry, you were doing makeup for big celebrities, including the industry’s top comedians. I hear rumblings that Laura Geller may want to break into stand-up comedy…?

I’ve always been told that I have a sense for storytelling and comedic timing but was busy being a professional makeup artist, raising my son, and running a brand so it wasn’t the focus. Lately it’s a notion that keeps coming up, and I have more time to consider it, so who knows what the future holds. Stay tuned!

Shockingly, this is your first magazine cover ever! What does that mean to you, your brand, and your message that women of all ages are beautiful and cover-star worthy?

I’m so honored! It means the world to me and the brand to get this kind of recognition after 27 years of Laura Geller Beauty and even longer in the industry as a professional makeup artist. It means more now that it would have back then because so few media companies highlight heritage brands or women over 40+ - it’s always about the shiny new thing. I love Bella Magazine for putting me on the cover and proudly saying we think mature women are beautiful, interesting and cover-stars. It sends such an important message and the fact that I can symbolize that is incredibly flattering.

“I would sit in front of them and sing over and over again,” says Jessie. “I knew I loved making people happy, and I enjoyed the way it felt.”

A few months out of high school, Jessie scored a record deal, put out a top-20 single, earned a gold record, and toured with the Jonas Brothers. Little did she know this was just the start of her journey.

Fast-forward to the present and the talented star has broadened her skills. Inspired by mentors such as Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Selena Quintanilla, Jessie has successfully—and harmoniously—created an entire brand.

Jessie’s latest cookbook will be released in early October and her fashion brand, Kittenish, is currently collaborating with Flag & Anthem, a fashion brand she’s been a fan of for quite some time.

We sat down with the star for an in-depth conversation centered around her career both on and off the stage, and the most important life lesson she’s learned.

With all that you have happening right now—new music, a new cookbook—would you say you’re living your childhood dream?

Absolutely! I’m living it above and beyond what I ever thought I would be doing. I thought I’d just be making music;, I never dreamt I’d be writing cookbooks and designing clothes. I’m so grateful.

What can readers discover in your new cookbook? Are there any recipes that hold personal significance?

I’ve loved all my books but this one is exciting for me because it encompasses the last few years of my life; it feels more personal. It contains a lot of my travel journeys and things I took away from my trips to Europe, Italy, and Greece.  I’m half Italian, and half Greek, and cooking alongside amazing chefs was inspirational.

When COVID happened, we started a garden, got chickens, and tried to get back to that homegrown life that inspired many of my recipes to be greener and cleaner. There are also warm chocolate chip cookies thrown in, so there’s ‘Louisiana Jess’ in there but also the clean Mediterranean recipes as well.

Laughter, Fashion, and Life Lessons: Carson Kressley on Success and Staying True to Yourself

With his eclectic taste and infectious personality, Carson Kressley rose to fame in the early 2000s with the hit show, “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” Little did he know, this was the start of an incredible journey.

With his eclectic taste and infectious personality, Carson Kressley rose to fame in the early 2000s with the hit show, “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” Little did he know, this was the start of an incredible journey.

Before taking the TV world by storm, Carson was happily ensconced in the world of New York City fashion, working for one of the most iconic brands, Ralph Lauren, a company he says he “always envisioned being a part of.”

“I had a job with a non-profit and that was great, but I really wanted to eat and buy a new pair of shoes,” jokes Carson. “I made a list of companies whose products and culture resonated with me, and Ralph Lauren was at the top of that list.” #

Despite not having much experience in the industry except for a love of clothing and its symbolism, Carson landed a job not long out of college with the renowned fashion company.

“I tell people it was like ‘The Devil Wears Prada …’ I was somebody’s assistant, got people’s lunches, picked up samples, and drove around in a black Town Car, but with really nice people who were also very preppy,” says Carson.

Since the world first fell in love with Carson, he’s had the opportunity to be a part of many great projects, both on-screen and off. He is a fierce supporter of the younger generation and aligns himself with organizations where he can help make a difference. “I remember my struggle, and anything I can do to make their pathway in the world a little bit easier, I think is valuable,” explains Carson.

Fascinated by Carson’s story and his passion for life, we sat down with the star to talk about his road to success and the ways in which he is helping others live a stylish life they love.

As a kid, did you ever envision you’d be where you are today?

I have always loved design, but it was not so much in the fashion space as the architectural space. I was constantly doodling houses, floor plans, and landscaping designs. I thought for sure I was going to grow up and become an architect like Mike Brady on “The Brady Bunch”! I thought, that's a great job, and then at some point I realized you had to be really good at math, so I was like ‘OK, next!’ I am not a math person!

I didn't know what I wanted to do at all, even through college. I had no idea what I was going to do the next Tuesday, so I just followed my heart. I knew I wanted to live in New York City, so the day after graduation I had a job lined up—not a dream job, but a job—and moved to Manhattan immediately. I think the city was a great catalyst in giving me amazing opportunities and opened my eyes to a variety of things I could do and that eventually led me to Ralph Lauren.

So, moving to New York City set you on the path you were meant to follow?

Absolutely! Moving to New York right away seemed exciting and a little bit scary, but it's the place where possibilities seem unlimited and that's very much my attitude. I know some people have Impostor Syndrome—I have the opposite! I thought, I'm going to go to New York, I can do anything I want, and I can be anyone I want, and that mindset let me become who I was meant to be.
