The Slutty Vegan Harlem opening is a homecoming of sorts for Pinky because her first-ever restaurant called Pinky’s Jamaican & American Restaurant was in Harlem and closed in 2016 after a fire. Pinky Cole is an unstoppable force in the food industry. Since launching Slutty Vegan in 2018, she’s been on a mission to make vegan food more accessible, affordable, and approachable. Already one of the foremost restaurateurs in the South, the Atlanta-based entrepreneur now has her eyes set on expansion outside the region. Her passion to create a vegan restaurant that was not just for vegans, but for everyone who wanted a delicious, plant-based meal has paid off. Slutty Vegan is currently valued at $100 million, and Cole is opening 20 more locations after a successful Series A funding round.
The new outpost will be the brand’s eighth brick-and-mortar, opening on the heels of its New York sister location in Brooklyn, which opened in September 2022. In addition to her crave-worthy food, Pinky has become popular across America for her empowerment of the Black community and for her charitable work focused on bringing economic opportunities to communities of color. She is the founder of the Pinky Cole Foundation, which provides a roadmap for black economic progress achieved by creatively leveraging economic opportunities, successful risk-taking, and innovation.
