KYU Launches Brunch in New York City

Beloved Miami staple KYU opened an outpost in New York City this spring to much fanfare -- and now there's even more to love of the Asian-inspired eatery located in Manhattan's NoHo. Brunch service launched this past weekend and the restaurant's curated menu highlights the wood-fired, Asian influenced dishes its become known for.Select classic items from their dinner menu can be found on their new brunch offerings, including the krunchy kale, hamachi and tuna crispy rice, and Korean fried chicken. But the real standouts can be found in other areas of the menu, like their Brunchy Bites, Scambles, and Sweets & Treats. We recommend starting off with an order of the Everything Scone for the table - dangerously easy to eat, these bite-sized scones come in a bowl for the table, along with chive miso butter and apricot jam. Just don't fill up too quickly. We opted to try a little something from each section of the menu, including the Duck Scramble and Waffles. It's important to cover both the sweet and savory options at brunch. The scramble was beautifully presented, with toasted rice and creamy gochujang, while the waffles really showcased the chef's expertise in combining Asian flavors with everyday dishes. They came topped with a heavenly Thai spiced whipped cream and berries. We capped our meal off with some goodies, including the cardamom churros served alongside a tasty soy toffee caramel, and the star of brunch, the cinnamon roll. Arguably the best cinnamon roll we've ever had, this one is made with black sugar and served with a gooey chai frosting and hits all the right spots. You can't go to brunch here and not get it.In addition to all of the brunch bites KYU offers, the restaurant added to their cocktail menu with an array of playful brunch cocktails. Cha Cha! Toucan Sam gives diners childhood nostalgia, comprised of fruit loops vodka, cha cha matcha and lemon, while the Elderflower Spritz is a more refreshing, classic option made with kaffir lime gin, elderflower and prosecco. Those looking to capitalize on the boozy brunch theme can order the Zodiak Killer, a 4-person, large format cocktail made with blanco tequila, creme de banana, coconut, guava juice, and fresh pressed pineapple.
