Thuy Nguyen is a celebrity manicurist and lash stylist with over 11 years of industry experience. She has trained with top, well-known nail artists from Japan, such as Tati and Ageha, and has taken courses featuring Presto Gel. Her first beauty salon in Torrance, CA, The Cosmo Studio, specializes in nail care, lashes, and skin care services. In addition to running TCS, Thuy works with numerous celebrities, companies, and events. Her clientele includes Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Biel, Elizabeth Arden, Ava DuVernay, Ava Phillippe, Storm Reid, Southern Living, Glamour, Net-a-Porter/The Edit, Crate & Barrel, the Golden Globes, the Oscar’s, Big Little Lies, and A Wrinkle in Time.

Tell us about a time you had to pivot in your business or career? What inspired this change?

When I noticed where I stood no longer fed me in the way that I was feeding into the company, I knew something needed to change.

How do you stay motivated and focused when facing challenges or setbacks?

I observe challenges through the same lens as I would in accomplishing a milestone. When something challenges me, it gives me the opportunity to have a different perspective and forces my brain and body to work outside of its normal pace and comfort. Growth blossoms through challenges, and if we cannot embrace all of the facets that would surround success, how can we assume a seat at the table?

What lessons have you learned in the process of pursuing your goals?

One of the best lessons I have learned in the process of pursuing my goals is to always remain present. When we only focus on the destination, we aren’t conscious of the journey and its lessons in attaining those goals.

I served as BELLA Magazine's Beauty Director for 11 years, but approaching 50, I felt the need for change. The inspiration was my desire to keep evolving and exploring new horizons. I made a bold move to join KISS, a renowned beauty brand, and found a new home and exciting career. This pivot taught me that change can lead to rewarding experiences, personal growth, and new opportunities.

How do you stay motivated and focused when facing challenges or setbacks?

I stay motivated through the motto "You either win or you learn." I use spiritual and mindfulness practices like meditation and prayer to find inner peace and clarity. My community's support and sharing experiences with like-minded individuals uplift and inspire me. Focusing on long-term goals and aspirations keeps me motivated and resilient.

What lessons have you learned in the process of pursuing your goals?

I've learned that commitment, consistency, and courage are keys to success. Embracing risks and setbacks as opportunities for growth is essential. Courage allows us to view setbacks as stepping stones. Believing in oneself and daring greatly opens doors and clears the path to turning dreams into reality.
