Ever Been to a Comedy Show for Dogs? Now You Can

Imagine an evening filled with laughter, good vibes, and the joyful chaos of tail-wagging pups—all for a powerful cause. Welcome to Must Love Dogs and Comedy (MLD&C), the not-for-profit producing comedy shows where you can bring your dog. Yes, really.

This unique 501(c)(3) has carved out a feel-good niche in the comedy scene by combining humor, animal rescue, and representation—all under one roof. With every ticket sold, proceeds go directly to support animal rescues and wellness initiatives, making each event as meaningful as it is memorable.

More Than Just Laughs

Since its first show in 2021, MLD&C has:

Raised over $25,000 for local rescues like Social Tees, Bideawee, and Muddy Paws
Showcased 400+ diverse comedians, centering voices too often left out of the spotlight
Created joyful, community-driven moments for dog lovers and comedy fans alike

These events are held in beloved dog-friendly venues like NYC’s Boris & Horton and have traveled nationally, building an ever-growing community of comedy lovers who care.

The Mission: Laugh. Rescue. Represent.

At its core, Must Love Dogs and Comedy is about rewriting the rules of traditional comedy culture. The mission is clear:

  • Support animal rescue and wellness

  • Foster a community built on inclusivity and joy

  • Uplift underrepresented voices in comedy, creating real, lasting change in the industry

How It All Started

The idea sparked in spring 2021, when New York City venues cautiously reopened after pandemic lockdowns. People were eager to socialize—but many new dog parents, especially those with “pandemic pups,” faced a dilemma: go out, or stay in with their furry companions?

At the same time, the lack of diversity and inclusivity in comedy was still glaringly obvious. So MLD&C’s founders asked:“What if we hosted a comedy show where people could bring their dogs—and also support animal rescues and marginalized performers?”

And just like that, Must Love Dogs and Comedy was born.

Whether you're a dog lover, a comedy fan, a changemaker—or all three—Must Love Dogs and Comedy is proving that joy, laughter, and social impact can coexist.
