Fendi's newly expanded Miami Design District boutique, now its second-largest U.S. store, blends Roman heritage with Miami flair. Spanning 6,700 square feet over two floors, it features iconic arches, wave-inspired glass bricks, and Fendi Casa furnishings. Women's and men's collections are showcased, alongside a private VIC area and curated art, creating a luxurious, contemporary shopping experience.

FoundRae has opened its doors in The Moore Building, bringing its signature poetic jewelry to Miami. Jimmy Choo's new three-story MDD boutique makes a bold statement with a white plaster and travertine facade. JOHN HARDY

John Hardy, the Balinese-inspired jewelry brand, has opened its first Florida store in the MDD, marking its 50th anniversary. MANOLO BLAHNIK - OPENING SOON

Manolo Blahnik is set to open its first South Florida boutique, designed by Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design. The space will feature a striking geometric facade with a circular motif echoed in bespoke rugs and wallpaper. Inspired by Art Deco pioneer Josef Hoffmann, the boutique will showcase bold monochromatic designs and rich materials in a classic black-and-white palette. Launching with the Spring 2025 collection, the store will offer 13 exclusive shoe designs, including reimagined versions of the iconic MAYSALE and CHAOS, embodying Manolo's signature blend of heritage and innovation.

NAMI NORI

NYC's acclaimed Nami Nori, famous for its innovative open-style Temaki handrolls, has arrived in Miami, thanks to a collaboration with Pharrell Williams. ALTERONCE GUMBY: LIVING THE DREAM, 2024

Artist Alteronce Gumby has unveiled his monumental mural, "Living the Dream," a permanent public art installation in Jade Alley. His largest work to date, this vibrant piece blends stained glass, gemstones, fossils, and mosaic tiles, creating a dynamic and transformative space. Inspired by Fauvism, the mural incorporates materials like jade, turquoise, red jasper, and fossilized shark teeth.

2024 MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT DESIGN COMMISSION: PEARL JAM BY NICOLE NOMSA MOYO

The Miami Design District, partnering with Design Miami Curatorial Lab, proudly presents Nicole Nomsa Moyo's "Pearl Jam," the 2024 Design Commission installation. This 10th-anniversary commission, on display until Spring 2025, is a vibrant tribute to Ndebele traditions, using bold colors and intricate patterns to create a universal conversation about creativity and identity.

"Pearl Jam" offers an interactive experience with life-sized pearls and jewelry-inspired sculptures. A particularly striking element is the display of over 1,000 handcrafted 'earrings,' created by indigenous Ndebele women, which gracefully adorn the district's trees, adding a unique cultural layer to the urban landscape.

BONY RAMIREZ: MUSA COCCINEA, 2024

Bony Ramirez unveils his first public art project, "Musa Coccinea," a stunning mural in Palm Court. Named after the Scarlet Banana plant, the artwork features a powerful figure amidst lush Caribbean foliage, celebrating the region's beauty and heritage. As part of his "Musa" series, the Dominican-born artist reimagines colonial histories through surreal imagery, blending classic portraiture with contemporary Caribbean life. This large-scale mural is a testament to Ramirez's dedication to honoring his roots and exploring the enduring impact of colonialism.

LAURIE SIMMONS AND PETER WHEELWRIGHT: THE KALEIDOSCOPE (… BIGGER) HOUSE

DMINTI, in partnership with the ICA, presents Laurie Simmons and Peter Wheelwright's "The Kaleidoscope (...Bigger) House," a captivating, immersive installation until March 31, 2025. This reimagining of their iconic work transforms it into a participatory sculpture, allowing visitors to enter Simmons' photographic vision. With AI enhancements and interactive triggers, guests can create and capture unique digital memories within the installation, making art an interactive experience.

JILL MULLEADY: PESCA A LA ENCANDILADA, 2024 

Jill Mulleady, in collaboration with ICA Miami and the MDD, has brought her 2024 painting "Pesca a la Encandilada" (Dazzled Fishing) to a grand scale, visible from I-95. The billboard reproduces her work, originally exhibited in a Roman church, depicting a dramatic fishing scene. The painting's dark, multi-colored skies and turbulent ocean contrast with the fisherman's bright flame, used to attract his catch. Drawing from Mulleady's Uruguayan roots, the artwork infuses the roadside with a dynamic scene of everyday life.

MARIO AYALA: MUCHO MUCHO AMOR (BUMPER STICKER), 2024 

Los Angeles artist Mario Ayala has created a hyperrealistic public art piece featuring the beloved Walter Mercado. Enlarging one of his paintings, Ayala depicts the late astrologer in a radiant aura, offering a moment of calm amidst a chaotic traffic scene. This irreverent pairing of everyday imagery with masterful technique serves as a fitting, and humorous, anticipation of Miami's Art Week congestion.
