Haunting Halloween Festivities in New York City
Get your Google calendars out and get ready to snag the spookiest (and hottest) tickets in town this month to celebrate Halloween all of October. Here are some of the most fun and frightful events happening around the city this month:
Voodoo Ranger & Espolon Tequila Halloween Event
Dress up in your spookiest duds and head to LandShark Bar & Grill at Margaritaville Resort Times Square. There will be a costume contest, as well as food and drink specials. Sign up takes place between 7pm and 8:45pm and the contest will commence at 9pm on October 25th.
Head down to The Cauldron, where guests can brew up speciality Halloween cocktails all month long. A glow-in-the-dark cocktail, Stingy Jack’s Doom, features bubbling spiced rum, amaretto, and pumpkin-spiced slime. Other spooky cocktail options include Sookie’s Sangria, Pumpkin Espresso Martini, and Bag o B Positive. And fret not — for those who don’t imbibe, there are plenty of mocktail options, as well. Try the Butter-Not-Scotch Sour or the Slimey Pear Mock-arita.
The Haunted Hotel III: Carnevil
On October 26, Ned’s Club NoMad will host an immersive and multi-level Halloween labyrinth, featuring eerie performances, a Haunted Hotel, and live entertainment. Wander the floors in your costumes for a truly hauntingly fun night of revelry.
Throughout the month of October, those seeking some extra tricks and treats can head to Someday Bar in Brooklyn, which has transformed into a bone-chilling watering hole with macabre decorations and bone-chilling cocktails. Nightmare Fuel features matcha, tequila, and Giffard Mangue, while Nosferatu Rise is made with coconut-washed whiskey, cinnamon, and Lustau Amontillado.
You might not equate mini golf with a chilling night out, but this October, the indoor mini golf space has some tricks up its sleeves. From October 25th through 31st, guests can order up the limited edition PSC, a pumpkin-spiced cocktail. Or stop by to take a chance at winning an exciting trick-or-treat prize on the 9th hole and enjoy the photo-worthy Halloween backdrop.
Spend an evening Off-Broadway with a viewing of the comic thriller Dead Sexy. This spooky burlesque show, presented by Jonny Porkpie, runs on October 12 and 19 at 7pm, as well as October 26 at 9:30pm.
The Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra will be presenting two showings of the 1925 silent film, The Phantom of the Opera, streaming in tandem with six musicians alongside the Peabody Memorial Organ (which has a whopping 4,718 pipes!). The haunting experience will take place at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church on October 25th at 8pm and 11pm.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail
From now through November 30, the New York Botanical Garden plays host to a special The Nightmare Before Christmas light trail that features over 8,300 square feet of light installations and video projections. Join your favorite Burton characters throughout the gardens, where you’ll enjoy the light-up experience along with those unbeatable tunes. The show opens at dusk every Thursday through Sunday.
For something colorful, yet right on theme, the Color Factory is showcasing Haunted Hues through November 3rd. The immersive art experience’s limited-time exhibit features pumpkins, spiders, and hauntingly beautiful family-friendly decor and treats for you to enjoy.
Hit up the city’s biggest pumpkin patch atop The Summer Club’s rooftop, where you’ll find more than 10,000 upstate New York-sourced pumpkins. In addition to plenty of gourds, there are also interactive photo opps, face painting, tarot card reading, and autumn-inspired treats.
Now through Halloween, you can scare up some tickets to one of the city’s creepiest haunted houses. While the actors inside won’t touch you, the house is indeed scary, so be prepared upon arrival. Make sure to check out the schedule to see when the space is open for hauntings — and keep in mind that it’s located in Times Square, so you know it’ll be frightening.
Join this haunting soiree, where medium Margery’s goal is to convince Harry Houdini himself that the supernatural exists. During this evening you’ll encounter first-hand magic and experience a seance, along with cocktails. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1920s attire. The experience is open now through November 3rd.
