The Heart + Soul Behind “Oceana Swimwear”- a Story of Passion, Resilience + Giving Back

Oceana Swimwear is a sustainable swimwear line with deep roots and passion for the ocean, founded by Ana Brito. Oceana represents her love of fashion and is an ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

CEO and Founder, Ana Brito

The story behind Oceana is deeply personal and dear to Ana. The Dominican Republic native was raised in Río San Juan and has always been an artist at heart. She has pursued modeling and has roots in acting, painting, poetry, music, and dancing. She claims fashion is an expressive outlet for her and she wants to share that creativity with the world.

Being from Río San Juan, she has pathos to the ocean and wants to protect its integrity through her brand. Oceana aims to address and combat the environmental impact of traditional swimsuits.

With sustainability at the heart of Oceana Swimwear, the brand uses biodegradable materials, ensuring no threat to marine life. Crafted with respect for the environment, Oceana Swimwear is both beautiful and sustainable.

Ana’s journey goes beyond environmental concerns. At age 25, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and was forced to drop out of her program at Lee Strasberg Institute of Film and Theater to return home for treatment. Thankfully, she was able to overcome the disease and now donates a portion of every Oceana purchase to supporting thyroid cancer organizations dedicated to improving access to cancer diagnosis and treatment in the Dominican Republic.

Ana’s brand’s ethos embodies the Larimar stone, symbolizing resilience and beauty. She says, “Just as the stone emerges from the depths of the earth, so too does our inner strength and beauty shine amidst life's challenges, a testament to the beauty that can arise from adversity.”

While focusing on her health, she also has hopes to compete for Miss Universe Dominic Republic, representing Río San Juan. Her story is one of perseverance, defying all odds, and turning passion into reality.

The brand’s first collection entitled ATABEY is now accepting preorders for the Jasmin dress. The company’s goal is to attract 1,000 customers through preorders to generate the needed profit to launch the rest of the brand.
