The Momtrepreneur Behind The Industry Leader of Preserved Rose Flower Gifting

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and we have the perfect gift idea for you. Meet Elisa Freilich, the inspirational female founder behind the industry leader in the world of preserved rose flower gifting Rosepops. Originally from Monsey, New York, Elisa began her professional creative pursuits working at a corporate graphic design agency and, later, as an interior decorator, eventually leaving the workforce to raise her family in her now hometown of Englewood, NJ.

What was your inspiration behind the creation of ‘Rosepops’? What was your business journey like for you?

I love when someone asks me this question, as my main inspiration for Rosepops came from a grievance that so many recipients of fresh flowers share. Flowers are beautiful, but they are so expensive and so short lived! For years I told my husband not to buy me flowers as I couldn’t bear to throw them out after just a week and I really didn’t want the hassle of maintaining them to try to extend their life. When preserved roses hit the scene, my husband gifted me a gorgeous arrangement and I fell in love! Real roses that last over a year? Don’t need any maintenance at all? I thought for sure that I had found my new go to gift for all occasions. But as I scoured the internet, I found that “eternity” roses would take an eternity to pay off! I thought, “there has to be a way to enable everyone to enjoy this amazing product without compromising on quality.” The key for me was to be able to ship the roses safely and economically, which led me to devise the now patented POP-up box. The POP adds a wow factor to every Rosepop experience, and also enables us to ship a more compact product. Once I had the packaging nailed, I vetted farms in Ecuador to find the finest roses out there and so began my Rosepops journey. I launched the business out of my basement three years ago and have since moved into a vast warehouse and have sold thousands of Rosepops to every state in the country! It’s been an amazing experience!

What was the overall process and creative process like for you while creating your brand?

I was determined to create a brand that looked nothing like any of the other brands out there. I wanted my arrangements to be friendly and personal. So I devised ways to differentiate my product. I’ve been an avid crafter all my life so I had a million ideas for how to imbue a box of roses with personality. I relied on my Cricut skills to start offering custom monograms. Past jewelry making attempts inspired me to design charm pins and custom made charms for the box ribbons. Dabbling in soap making, candle and essential oil crafts led me to create our trademarked Arosatherapy line which offers gentle custom blended fragrances that can be used to scent the roses. These are all the “uniquities” that keep our customers coming back time and time again. It’s pretty much “once you POP, you just can’t stop!” at Rosepops.

What is something that you want customers/consumers to take away when purchasing from Rosepops?

Rosepops is about an entire experience. We call our customers POP’pers and POP’ees and our goal is to equally delight both. Starting with a fun, vibrant website, POP’pers are delighted that they can send an arrangement that says so much more than a generic bouquet of flowers. They are also pleased to find such fine roses at such competitive price points. When the POP’pees receive their arrangements, they are delighted by the packaging. There is something so magical about making those roses POP up! POP’ees love the personal message from their gifter which is printed inside the lid of each POP. They enjoy the fragrance of the roses and also the knowledge that these beautiful rich blooms will last for at least a year. And their only job is to “POP and smell the roses.” (Sorry – we have a bit of a POP pun addiction over here;) This is what drives us at Rosepops and why we feel that in a somewhat crowded market, our brand truly stands out from the rest.
