Unlock Fall Dining for the Whole Family at Sagaponack’s Old Stove Pub

Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! As we move into the fall season, there are still plenty of Hamptons hot spots open for business. Taking into account the decreased number of tourists and breathtaking fall foliage, some may even argue that this is a more ideal time of year to visit. For those planning an autumn getaway, or for fellow Long Islanders ditching waterfront tables for a cozier fall dining experience, the Old Stove Pub in Sagaponack is certainly a must-visit.

The 55 year old Hamptons mainstay truly has something for everyone, offering intriguing weekly specials and activities in addition to their classic Greek menu and sushi bar. Bring the whole family along for Monday “Family Fun” nights featuring games, arts and crafts, and face painting that’ll keep the little ones entertained while parents enjoy a night out. Wednesday and Thursday nights foster a more laid back atmosphere, with Pub Night specials including $12 appetizers, $19 burgers, and drink specials. Guests can even indulge in a weekend night out with live music every Saturday and Sunday, as well as half-priced bottles of wine with appetizers on Sunday evenings.

Restored by owner, operator, and Southampton local Joe DeCristofaro four years ago, the Old Stove Pub has reestablished itself as a community staple while maintaining the old-school feel that drew customers in decades ago. “The Old Stove Pub holds a special place in the hearts of Hamptonites,” notes Joe DeCristofaro. “The history of the Pub is so rich, and restoring this property four years ago was a true labor of love. We are proud to continue to present the Old Stove Pub to the community with something special happening every night.”

Despite the revitalization of the Old Stove Pub, Joe has preserved many of the elements that make the restaurant so iconic. Among the landmarks: the glowing neon sign which waiters also rep on their uniforms, bucking horse statue, porch front piano, signature artwork by Larry Rivers, and slogan “When You’re Fed Up with the Chic, Come to the Greek”.

In terms of cuisine, diners can expect a locally sourced, Greek and Mediterranean influenced menu. Dishes include Old Stove Pub classics such as the Sagaponack Dry Rubbed Steak and Greek Salad, as well as a variety of meats, seafood dishes, and vegetarian options. My recommendation: the Onion Soup, a warm and flavorful starter perfect for the upcoming, chilly fall days.

Of course, we can’t forget about dessert! My personal favorite was the vanilla ice cream topped with cold fudge, which was suggested by our lovely waitress, Diana. This simple yet rich dessert was the perfect sweet treat to follow dinner. The rest of the staff were just as kind and accommodating as Diana, even offering blankets to guests who appeared to be getting cold as the sun went down.

Although the food and staff were great, the overall ambiance of the Old Stove Pub is what sold me! Twinkling string lights and tiki torches surround the 1820 farmhouse property, creating a warm glow that envelops the restaurant. Set on a lush piece of land alongside an eastern Long Island country road, it’s hard not to feel relaxed during this dining experience.

Tables were adorned with red plaid tablecloths, contributing to an elevated yet homey aesthetic. A patio area with heaters, outdoor dining tent, wraparound porch, and wooden bar left plenty of room for guests to mingle. Those looking to host an event may also utilize the clear outdoor tent as a venue, which is sure to be stunning as colorful leaves begin to rain down upon the clear ceiling.

From a unique array of food options, to a family friendly environment that still offers the luxurious Hamptons vibe, and specials suited for just about anyone…what more could you ask for? Located at 3516 Montauk Hwy in Sagaponack, New York, the Old Stove Pub is open for dinner service Wednesday - Monday weekly.
