Share with our readers a bit about your early journey into dance and the entertainment industry? What motivated you to pursue a career in this field?

I started dancing at age 3 at my local dance studio in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I took some music lessons and theater classes locally, also, as I got older. My older sister, Azalea, and I both really enjoyed the creative arts, and we wanted to try to get into the industry, so our family moved to Los Angeles when I was 8 years old. I started at a dance studio which also had voice and music lessons, and I really loved the music aspect. Soon after arriving in LA, I got a theatrical/commercial manager, and I started booking auditions-it hasn’t really stopped since! I am actually a pretty shy person, and I loved that the performing arts gave me a way to express myself.

You’ve been involved in various acting roles, from Nickelodeon’s “Henry Danger” to Brat TV’s “Charmers.” How do you approach these diverse roles?

I have had the opportunity to take many acting classes, and I have coached with a lot of different teachers, learning a bunch of different acting styles. I absolutely love my acting coach right now, and I feel her style of teaching has really helped me approach the whole breaking down of a script in a way that really helps me.

Transitioning from a member of Kidz Bop to becoming a solo artist is quite a shift. What inspired you to pursue a solo music career, and what message do you aim to convey through your music?

Looking back, Kidz Bop was actually an extremely important time that gave me a realistic view of what it takes to actually make it in the industry. It wasn’t without its ups and downs, but it really did make me fall in love with the music industry and all the ways that I could use my artistic skills. I really did step away with a lot of knowledge on what it takes to succeed in the business. I really did have stories to tell, and I wanted to tell them on my own terms. I love the creative freedom that comes with being a solo artist. The main message I hope to convey with my music is a sense of strength and emotional power that overcomes all obstacles. To have a strong sense of mental health, you have to push through some tough issues, but with hard work and some help along the way, you can make it through anything!

You’ve mentioned your involvement in social media collectives like the Vibe Crew. How has being part of these groups influenced your content and creative collaborations?

I have been in quite a few social media collectives, and I would actually advise against it. Haha! I’m not saying not to collaborate with other creators; in fact, you should collaborate with other creators, but putting a group label on it works in a way that can actually hurt creativity. It’s like any other “group” in that cliques form, drama unfolds, and people get controlling and overbearing. Although it may be a way to get your name out there, it’s not really worth the stress and anxiety that comes along with it. I mean, I am grateful for my experiences, but I would probably not join a labeled “group” again.

Your upcoming single “Hurt A Little” is generating excitement. Could you share a glimpse into the inspiration behind this song and what listeners can expect?

Yes!! My new song, “Hurt A Little,” comes out on September 15th, with a music video to soon follow! I am actually filming the music video in a few days, so excited!!! “Hurt A Little” is about the end of a relationship and feeling like the other person is unfazed by the end. You feel like the hurt that you are feeling should be shared by the other person, and you are wondering if the relationship even meant anything to them.

It's impressive how you’re involved in philanthropic causes like Autism Awareness and Racial/ Sexual Equality. Can you tell us more about these endeavors and your passion for promoting such important issues?

Yes, I definitely support Autism Awareness. I have a family member who is nonverbal and on the Spectrum, and I see the struggles that they and the family have to manage. It is an important cause for me. I am also a huge proponent of Racial and Sexual equality. It really does baffle me that in this stage of human society there are still so many prejudices and judgements against those who may be different from someone else. I am also someone who believes in tackling mental health issues, and many issues stem from those prejudices projected by others. I am all for creating a society where, as long as you are not hurting others, you are free to celebrate who you are.

With your extensive achievements at a young age, what advice would you give to other aspiring young artists looking to break into the entertainment industry?

My biggest advice is to be OK with putting in a lot of time and a lot of effort. You are going to be competing with others who eat, sleep, and breathe the art you are interested in pursuing. Also, surround yourself with the right supportive people who will be able to guide you on your journey. Listen to your gut, and if the people around you are throwing up red flags, trust your instinct. Enjoy the journey and trust in the path you are on. It is sometimes a struggle to keep moving forward, but trust that the grind will and does pay off. Thank you so much, BELLA Magazine, for this opportunity to introduce myself to new people!
