OWN’s Love & Marriage Franchise: Carlos King and Huntsville Cast Shine at Exclusive LA Event
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network is solidifying its status as the home of captivating reality television with the announcement of new seasons for its hit series Love & Marriage: Huntsville and Love & Marriage: Detroit, alongside fresh episodes of Love & Marriage: D.C. The new installments, produced by Carlos King’s Kingdom Reign Entertainment, solidified their mark as part of OWN’s must-watch Saturday night programming block.
The Love & Marriage franchise captures the complexities of love, friendship, and ambition through the lives of diverse couples in Huntsville, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. In Love & Marriage: Huntsville, fan-favorite cast members Melody Rodgers, Martell Holt, Kimmi and Maurice Scott, Marsau and LaTisha Scott, and newcomers Stormi Steele, Courtney Beasley, and Destiny Payton navigate personal and professional challenges, all while delivering drama and heartfelt moments. This season, the Huntsville cast welcomes two new couples, adding fresh dynamics and unexpected connections.
The numbers speak for themselves. Love & Marriage: Huntsville has drawn over 12 million viewers and continues to dominate Saturday primetime as the top original non-sports series for African-American women across key demographics. Its success drives OWN to be the #1 cable network on Saturday nights for Black women aged 25-54. Across the franchise, including Love & Marriage: D.C. and Detroit, the series consistently ranks as one of the top three original non-sports programs among African-American viewers.
On November 6, OWN celebrated its flagship series with a special live event at NYA Studios West in Los Angeles. Hosted by Carlos King, the exclusive evening welcomed cast members Kimmi, Maurice, LaTisha, and Marsau Scott to engage in an insightful conversation about Black love, the show’s evolution, and its cultural impact.
The event kicked off with a lively red carpet, followed by a sizzle reel showcasing OWN’s partnership with Kingdom Reign Productions. Carlos King’s entrance set the stage for a panel discussion with the Scotts, who reflected on their journey and the series' commitment to authentic storytelling. The crowd, which included industry leaders and local community members, responded with enthusiasm and applause.
Guests mingled at the elevated reception, enjoying signature cocktails like the “Spicy Love & Marriage Margarita” and “Reign Drops,” while savoring hors d’oeuvres. Members of the NAACP, NABJLA, and the press were also present, further underscoring the show’s significance within the Black community.
With its winning formula, Love & Marriage is more than a TV series—it’s a movement, celebrating the resilience, ambition, and complexities of Black love and friendship. With the success of the 2024 season premiere, the franchise promises to continue its legacy of authenticity and success.
OWN’s commitment to amplifying African-American voices and fostering genuine connections was on full display. The event left attendees inspired by the network’s dedication to empowering creators and audiences alike through compelling narratives.
