The Macallan holds a deep appreciation for the time it takes to establish, nurture, and protect heritage, as well as a desire to produce iconic creations and legendary pieces. These core values are mirrored in both the works of art housed within the Rubell’s collection and the museum’s overall ethos. The Macallan has a storied history celebrating artisans who have mastered their own unique craft, so the collaboration with the Rubell is a continuation of the brand’s continued dedication to supporting the art world and its renowned institutions.

A remarkable figure in The Macallan’s rich history, Janet Harbinson, affectionately known as “Nettie” was a woman with great vision and courage - her spirit still drives everything The Macallan does today. In 1918 her husband Alexander, who had been running the distillery at the time, sadly passed. Following his death, she assumed control and become the first female managing director of The Macallan in the 1920s. Guided by her conviction, dedication, and a belief in doing the next right thing, it was her passion and care for those around her that kept the business afloat and helped support the local community.

Celebrating artistry and women is at the heart of The Macallan and this dinner experience featured exclusive offerings from The Macallan, paired with incredible dishes from famed Basque restaurant, Leku, located within the Rubell Museum. From start to finish, the evening showcased the unique intricacies behind The Macallan range and how The Macallan liquid doubles as an artful masterpiece.

The M Collection acts as a prism into the world of The Macallan, reflecting the Six Pillars. Each bottle within The M Collection is inspired by one of The Macallan's six pillars and features an array of colors and liquid embodying the unique characteristics that reflect the emotions that drive the creation of this precious spirit. M Copper celebrates the curiously small copper stills - the vessels in which our whisky is distilled, which are unique to The Macallan and create the rich and robust character that The Macallan is famous for. The Iberian Harmony is currently available at Leku $75 per serve and beautifully highlights the deep dark chocolate profile of the whisky complimented by Cinco Jotas Jamon Iberico to create an unforgettable serve.

One of the evening’s menu highlights was the Iberian Harmony - 5Jotas infused The Macallan Harmony Rich Cacao, creme de cacao, Pedro Ximenez sherry, orange molé bitters, paired with a slice of 5Jotas ham and a chocolate covered foie gras acorn.
